2008 Gallatin Valley Crop Walk - 10/19/08

 


2008 marks the 21st year of CROP Walks in Bozeman.  This year’s CROP Walk will fall on October 19, beginning at 2:00 pm at the Gallatin Valley Food Bank.  Please mark this date on your calendar!  The proceeds from this event will be used locally and around the world to alleviate hunger.  The success of this event depends on your participation.  Please join us in walking to end hunger in the Gallatin Valley and around the world.  Please contact the Gallatin Valley Food Bank at 586.7600 for further information and registration details or log on to www.cropwalk.org.  The walk is a 10K stroll beginning at the Food Bank (602 Bond Street) and extending to the East Gallatin Park and around the lake.   Pizza & refreshments will be served following the walk.

The Emerson Center will be hosting George Winston in concert this summer on August 5, 2007.  The Food Bank will be hosting a food drive and information table at the event.  The Food Bank will also be selling George Winston music and other products, with 100% of the proceeds benefiting the Food Bank.  Please contact the Emerson for ticket information.

Homeless in the Last Best Place Exhibit - 9/19/07

Homeless in the Last Best Place

Homeless in the Last Best Place is a unique happening that brings together a photography exhibit to benefit the homeless of Gallatin Valley.  Sponsored by the Gallatin Valley Food Bank, Family Promise of Gallatin Valley, and HIS Soup, this exhibit hopes to raise money that will sustain homeless individuals and transform them into productive members of the community.  Photographs are on display in the Weaver Room at the Emerson Cultural Center through November 15.

Fill the Food Bank Shelves for a Day Food Drive - 10/1/07 - 10/31/07

Great Harvest Bread Company
announces the
'Fill the Food Bank Shelves for a Day Food Drive'
to benefit the Gallatin Valley Food Bank

More than 1,000 food items are needed to meet their goal of filling the Food Bank shelves for one day.  For a list of food items, stop in at Great Harvest Bread Company or view below.  Donors who contribute 4 or more food items will recieve a FREE Loaf of Honey Whole Wheat Bread, limit one loaf per customer please.  Donations will be collected beginning October 1 through October 31, 2007 at Great Harvest Bread Company at 701 West Main Street in Bozeman.

To Fill the Food Bank Shelves for a Day, we will need to collect the following:

60 Boxes Macaroni & Cheese
120 Packages Ramen Noodles
30 Boxes Instant Potato Mix
30 Boxes Instant Rice

Get Casual For Good!

The Gallatin Valley Food Bank has been selected as the November 2006 BLUE JEAN FRIDAY's recipient.  The event is sponsored by the Bozeman Daily Chronicle, Kwik Copy Printing and Reier Broadcasting Company.  Through this program, funds are collected from employees at participating businesses who choose to wear blue jeans on the first Friday of the month of November.  These participants pay $2 for the 'right' to wear jeans, and they receive a sticker designating them as a participant.  All proceeds collected are given to the Food Bank. 

Stickers may be obtained from the Bozeman Daily Chronicle and funds collected must be delivered to the Bozeman Daily Chronicle by the Friday following the Blue Jean Friday.  Please be sure to include your company's name along with the funds collected upon delivery.  Blue Jean Friday is generally the first Friday of the month.  Look for the ad in the Chronicle on Sunday, October 29th and Wednesday, November 1st.

Community Food Co-op's 4% Day - 11/16/07


NOVEMBER 16, 2007 The Community Food Co-op has selected the Gallatin Valley Food Bank to be the recipient of funds from the Community Food Co-op's 4% Day Program.  Four percent of the Co-op's sales on November 16, 2007 will be granted to the Food Bank to help us carry out our mission.

 The Food Bank will have our organization's information posted in the display case outside the Co-op throughout the month of November.  The Food Bank will also spend our 4% day at the Co-op providing information about our programs and services to shoppers. The Community Food Co-op will help us additionally by promoting our 4% Day in thier Co-op newsletter and displaying the Food Bank's information with table tents throughout the month of November.



967 Minutes of Caring - 11/16/07

96.7 KISS FM and SMITH'S FOOD & DRUG partner to host a 967 Minute Live Broadcast Food Drive for the Gallatin Valley Food Bank.  The event  will be held at SMITH'S FOOD & DRUG on November 16, 2007.  All foods collected will help the Food Bank to provide Emergency and Holiday Food Services to local families in need.



Huffing For Stuffing Thanksgiving Day RUN - 11/22/07

The Big Sky Wind Drinkers running club is proud to host the inaugural Huffing for Stuffing Thanksgiving Day Run in Bozeman on November 22, 2007.  This fun, heart-healthy, family-oriented event will bring the Gallatin Valley community together to benefit the Gallatin Valley Food Bank.  5K, 10K, and Kids Run events will be offered and great prizes will be awarded.  Don't miss the beginning of an exciting, community focused Thanksgiving tradition in Bozeman.  For registration, sponsorship, volunteer and post-race party information, log on to huffingforstuffing.com or contact the Food Bank.

 



12 Days of Giving - 11/23/07 - 12/4/07

XL Country and First Security Bank host the 3rd Annual 12 Days of Giving Food Drive at Participating Local Grocery Stores from Bozeman to Three Forks.  Foods collected will benefit the Gallatin Valley Food Bank and Headwaters Area Food Bank.  When you make a contribution, you will have a chance to register for a Gift Certificate to the Outback Steakhouse.  Contact the Food Bank for a schedule of grocery stores and times.  The drive begins November 24 and concludes December 5.

The Pilgrim Congregational Church and the Gallatin Valley Food Bank are teaming up to host the13th Annual 'Soup's On' Fundraiser for the Food Bank.

Please join us for this tasy event, February 15, 2008 from 4:30-7:30pm at the Pilgrim Congregational Church at 2118 South 3rd Avenue in Bozeman.

Tickets entitle you to a bountiful soup and bread buffet donated by local restaurants.  Soups will be served in hand-made pottery bowls donated by local artists and are yours to keep!

Letter Carrier's Food Drive - 5/10/08

 

 

The 16th Annual National Association of Letter Carriers Food Drive will be held Saturday, May 10th. Donating to the Food Bank has never been easier! Leave non-perishable food items by your mail box, before 10 am, for collection on May 10th and your letter carrier will deliver it directly to the Gallatin Valley Food Bank. You may also drop off donations at your post office. This national event is the largest one-day food drive in the nation and collected more than 25,000 pounds for your local food bank last year. Your donation during the Letter Carriers Drive will make a difference in the life of a hungry child or adult in our community this summer. 
Keep checking for further details as we get closer to the event date and look for your reminder postcard in the mail the week of May 5!  If every mail recipient gives at least one can of food, we can reach our 2008 goal of 40,000 pounds!
