The Gift of Food Holiday Food Drive event was brought to you by Cardinal Distributing, Big Sky Western Bank, RightNow Technologies and KBZK. 

Nearly 20,000 pounds of food was collected on Saturday December 10th, 2011!

Moonlight Basin and the Gallatin Valley Food Bank is pleased to announce that this year’s “Turkey for a Ticket” event was another huge success with a record amount of donations made -  – 18,001 pounds of food was collected including 576 turkeys.  The amount of food that was donated once again far exceeded expectations. 

 There are hundreds of new families turning to the food bank for assistance each month.  With a record level of need growing in the community each year, this unique event is a perfect opportunity to help a neighbor and participate in a worthy cause.  Moonlight Basin and the Gallatin Valley Food Bank would like to thank those who participated in this year’s “Turkey for a Ticket” to make the holidays a little brighter for many families in the area.

There were 2760 paid participants and 214 children in the Kids’ Run who enjoyed a warm Montana morning.   More than 200 volunteers supported this event and over 1000 pounds of food was collected at the event.  The incredible infrastructure support from Montana State University, Museum of the Rockies, the City of Bozeman and many other organizations that are too numerous to name contributed to Huffing For Stuffing’s success again this year. 

We are grateful to our sponsors, volunteers, participants, City of Bozeman officials, the greater Gallatin Valley community and visitors from 31 states for supporting our holiday celebration during challenging economic times that have adversely impacted many people and organizations among our community. We will work hard to carry the positive momentum of Huffing For Stuffing into 2012 and beyond. Thank you!

Hunger 101 is an educational project that includes an introduction to hunger and poverty in Montana, the US, and the World and includes activities, and a workshop that we can  lead for you!
